Readers of Smart City Sentinel are likely well aware of the innovative impacts of current smart city implementations (and what future advancements are in the works). A smart city, as we know, is not a single entity; it’s comprised of vast networks of sensors and interconnected devices that improve the efficiency of myriad public services while ultimately saving big on costs and resource management. Much of this ends up being powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) Smart city initiatives that can range from smart meters and intelligent traffic capabilities, public safety installations, smart building fiber-optic infrastructure (i.e. often replacing legacy, copper-based systems), smart grids, healthcare support via IoMT technologies, 5G networks, AI/ML, projects involving digital twins to simulate and test urban planning, and much more.
Around the world, cities like Copenhagen, Seoul, San Diego, Beijing, Amsterdam, Singapore, London, New York, Sydney, and Toronto all feature smart city-centric operations that work quite effectively. Another that perhaps isn’t mentioned as often (but should be, in my opinion) is in the state of Georgia. As a truly neat and smart-everything environment, I’ve written a lot about Peachtree Corners; most recently, the city’s latest traffic safety solution, as well as the autonomous robot carriers (ARCs) deployed alongside T-Mobile to boost citizens’ daily experiences with connectivity.
Earlier today, I also penned a story about the city of Vancouver; specifically, The Post. This historic building’s legacy infrastructure is being modernized, with other well-known buildings in Chicago, Illinois and Austin, Texas being eyed next.
The long-story-short of this, readers? We love covering pieces like this here, and I wanted to take a moment to cover another exciting opportunity for those interested in smart city technologies:
ITEXPO.
ITEXPO will held this year from February 13-15 at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Planned with a carefully curated agenda of can’t-miss keynote presentations, thoughtful panel discussions and breakout sessions, hands-on workshops and massive exhibition hall with experts and tech demos aplenty, the convention center will be buzzing with ways to stay informed so you’re ahead of the curve when it comes to success in a space as dynamic as smart city technologies. (Side note: As an attendee of last year’s ITEXPO, I can say with confidence that smart technologies in general will very much be on display for those interested in learning more.)
And speaking of learning more, both fellow Editor Greg Tavarez and I have highlighted other events taking place at the ITEXPO #TECHSUPERSHOW this year, spanning from IoT and IIoT to MSPs, GenAI, and additional Future of Work inventions. (Read each story by clicking on those topics’ links.)
