Boldyn Networks and Airspan Extend Smart City Collaboration via Open RAN Solutions in Sunderland

Boldyn Networks.

Airspan.

Let’s take a sec to review each.

Boldyn Networks is well-established neutral host provider that’s on a mission to deliver the best-possible shared communications infrastructures – the kind necessary to get us, as a people, closer to a more inclusive future with sustainability at the forefront. Future-proof 5G private networks, high-performance distributed antenna systems (DAS), small cell deployment, high-capacity fiber, you name it; Boldyn Networks aims to make our  interconnected systems and smart city implementations much smarter. By working with transit authorities, sports venue operators, healthcare and education institutions, enterprise manufacturers, government entities and others, all signs point to Boldyn Networks and next-gen connectivity being a hand-in-hand deal.

Airspan is a network densification company that provides disruptive software and hardware alike for 5G networks, as well as end-to-end, vendor-interoperable Open RAN solutions. In its own words, “Airspan believes it is well-positioned with 5G indoor and outdoor, Open RAN, private networks for enterprise customers and industrial use applications, fixed wireless access (FWA), Air-To-Ground and CBRS solutions to help mobile network operators of all sizes deploy their networks of the future, today.” By empowering industries with the Airspan connectivity standard, so to speak, industry leads can set themselves up for digital-era, always-connected success.

Notably, Boldyn Networks and Airspan have worked together before. Now, they’re continuing that collaboration via support for Sunderland, a port city in England.

“We are very pleased with Boldyn selecting Airspan as a partner to bring further innovation to the evolving smart city of Sunderland,” stated Henrik Smith-Petersen, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Airspan. “Dense, software-centric 5G networks are crucial in establishing a network of connectivity that enhances employment opportunities, business efficiency and growth, all while securing a prosperous future.”

Claire Venners, Director Delivery, UK and Ireland at Boldyn Networks, added to this.

“Airspan’s continued support and advanced technology solutions have been important in our journey to transform Sunderland into a pioneering smart city,” Venners explained. “Their commitment and expertise in deploying 5G solutions align with our vision for a digitally connected and sustainable urban future.”
