SiMa.ai – a well-funded team of 100+ experts developing software-centric, high-performance, scalable edge machine learning (ML) services. Its mission? Disrupt the $10 trillion embedded edge market that is still largely reliant on decades-old technologies. (Especially since many of its competitors face challenges when scaling due to solutions that aren’t purpose-built for power efficiency.)
CVEDIA – trusted by (and partnered with) Siemens, Airbus and Ford (to name a few), CVEDIA develops ML algorithms for data-limited apps using synthetic data, 3D design and data science. These algorithms outperform traditional ones and, according to the company, “lead to safer, quicker market releases.”
Supermicro – a global provider of first-to-market innovations spanning enterprise cloud, 5G, AI and edge IT infrastructure. By designing and building its environmentally friendly (and energy-saving) portfolio of servers, storage systems, switches, software and more, Supermicro delivers solutions that earned it a whopping $7.2 billion in revenue in FY23.
Given several common denominators these three organizations share, it’s pretty clear where we’re steering this story, readers:
SiM.ai, CVEDIA and Supermicro announced their joint collaboration to “proudly bring smart city solutions to the embedded edge.”
Specifically, this collab has its crosshairs on a solution that combines CVEDIA’s AI Video analytics with Supermicro’s edge appliances, powered by SiMa.ai’s Machine Learning System on Chip (MLSoC) platform.
How will smart city environments benefit? Well for example, local municipalities will become better equipped to improve the performance and cost of applications involving roadway and sidewalk object and anomaly detection, as well as vehicle classification where necessary.
Per Elizabeth Samara-Rubio, Chief Business Officer of SiMa.ai:
"SiMa.ai’s mission is to help customers deploy high-performance AI/ML applications at the edge with a high bar for energy-efficiency and ease of use with partners. This is why we are pleased to introduce real-time AI/ML partner solution integrations, such as CVEDIA’s library of reliable, affordable AI-based video analytics solutions to the market. Alongside support from Supermicro, these will help customers scale their AI/ML edge developments effortlessly with a single platform.”
And per Arjan Wijnveen, CEO of CVEDIA:
“Leveraging CVEDIA's strength in intelligent video analytics and SiMa.ai‘s software centric MLSoC, we are excited to introduce an innovative edge AI/ML solution that strikes an optimum balance between performance and power. The collaboration enables a completely new era of AI/ML solutions at the edge that optimize and scale the use cases, and propel value-added services.”
